I asked my students to design a device–however realistic or futuristic–that will enhance communication. They had to include various specifications—dimensions, materials, power source/capacity, safety guidelines, etc. They chose the genre of their final submission–an annotated schematic, illustrated instruction manual, sales pitch, brochure, or promotional video.
